Traditional blogs feature several conventions which set them apart from other types of sites. Blog content is most often displayed as a set of articles or "posts," ordered chronologically. Each article likely features a header title, date and author, body text, a category assignment, tags, and comments. Tags, also called "meta tags," allow the author to denote what concepts are discussed in the article. This allows readers to organize blog posts by tag usage, and can aid social aggregators or search engines in mining blog data. Most blogs feature comment functionality, allowing readers to post responses to blog articles. This works much like a thread in a discussion forum. Like many other types of social media, blogs usually include an RSS feed, which enables blog content to be subscribed to and syndicated to other media sources or devices.
